CM claims high command has not cleared Mickky induction

Chief minister Digambar Kamat finally opened up on the issue of Mickky Pacheco’s induction.

“My Congress high command has still not given me clearance to induct Mickky in the cabinet”, he told the media, after meeting the Governor as well as 10 Congress dissidents.

Five Congress ministers as well as five MLAs have come together, opposing induction of NCP Benaulim MLA Mickky Pacheco’s induction in the cabinet.

After they voiced out their opposition while threatening to withdraw support to their own party government, Kamat today morning met Governor Dr S S Sidhu.

It is however not clear whether the chief minister also discussed the option of dissolving the Assembly to end the stalemate.

B K Hariprasad, the AICC observer for Goa, has decided to come down to Goa to sort out the issue. He is expected after Christmas.

The issue has cropped up as NCP president Sharad Pawar has told Kamat to replace revenue minister Jose Philip D’Souza and tourism minister Nilkanth Halarnkar with Mickky, the former minister.

In order to try and resolve the issue locally, GPCC chief Subhash Shirodkar has convened a joint meeting of the GPCC and CLP today evening.

“We will approach the high command only if the issue is not resolved locally”, said Shirodkar.

The chief minister however is planning to send a detailed report to the high command in this regard.

Following a meeting with the chief minister, eight out of ten dissidents also met the Governor today afternoon.

Yes, Anthony, this is not what they teach in our schoolbooks. They should also caution the young minds coming out of school and college, into the world,of the dangers, lurking once they are out of these institutions. We needed franchise educated at minimum level to understand the full meaning of a 'vote'. Not selling our precious vote @ 500 measly rupees for a period of 5 years or 27 naie paise per day. Every job in the government after merit and shortlist is sold at a price. We are wrong to curse the people who take bribe, their job has got to be done. Each one is for himself- in Portuguese "cada um para si e Deus para todos". Let the conscience of every individuial who pays this sum come clear. I agree we need a lot more courage to stand up to corruption and support from other individuals in the society. It is not easy. United we stand, divided we fall. Party politics have failed\, there is no discipline. Parties looking for win-ability cannot achieve the tricknof good governance. India shining or blurred is a mere perception. It is mudslinging one blanming the other. Alas, this is the 50th year of our so-called "freedom" and yet we are in chains and no ritual can free us from bondage except our very own selves.

A huge bureaucracy for a small state like Goa and equally huge number of ministers, some of them not even properly educated, to understand complex problems and needs of this modern society, to run this blessed state, with the end result of endless scams at every level and opportunity, is unacceptable- people are fed up.

Let the people give a new clear mandate and choose their own independent candidates of their choice. And let not anyone say we are "apolitical".There is no such thing, sustaining itself.
