Sonia summoned & pursuaded Luizinho to take over Goa

Luizinho Faleiro, the newly appointed Goa Congress chief, was persuaded by AICC chief Sonia Gandhi personally today morning to take over the reins of Goa.
Sources in Delhi revealed to goanews.com that Gandhi summoned Faleiro from Goa and met him today morning to discuss the GPCC chief issue.
Faleiro, who rushed to the national capital yesterday evening, met the AICC chief today morning.
“The issue of replacing John Fernandes had remained undecided all these days since Faleiro was reluctant”, the sources told goanews.com.
However, Gandhi succeeded in persuading Faleiro in a brief meeting today, after which the order was issued today evening.
Following this, AICC general secretary Janardan Dwivedi issued a press release in this regard.
“The Congress President Mrs Sonia Gandhi has appointed Shri Luizinho Faleiro, presently general secretary in the AICC, as President of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee in place of Shri John Fernandesz”, stated the one-line press note.
Faleiro is arriving in Goa tomorrow morning.
This is the first time a national-level general secretary has been appointed as the GPCC chief in Goa.
It has to be seen now what happens to the traditional system of appointing ‘outsider’ AICC office bearer as the Goa in-charge.
The post of the Goa in-charge is held by Faleiro’s colleague in the AICC as general secretary, Digvijay Singh, till date.
