You can't force minister to resign just because he is found to be corrupt: Parrikar

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar today clarified his position on controversial Lokayukta amendments, stating that Lokayukta is neither a judge nor a trial court but merely an investigative agency.
His proposed amendment to empower the governor and the chief minister to forgive the indicted minister or MLA by Lokayukta by not acting upon Lokayukta's report has received public ire.
The amendment bill is expected to come up for consideration and passing in the Assembly tomorrow.
A day prior to that, Parrikar today address the media to clarify his position.
According to Parrikar, the amendment makes Lokayukta more powerful as it includes a section which makes a public functionary like corporation chairman etc stand terminated and a government servant gets suspended.
In the same breath, the chief minister justifies his action of the "the chief minister, minister or MLA may resign" in case of indictment by the Lokayukta.
He does not call it dilution of the Lokayukta.
"If these politicians are found to be corrupt, they could be chargesheeted and tried in the court of law. Just because someone finds him to be corrupt, you cannot force him to resign", said Parrikar.
According to Parrikar, Lokayukta indictment is not a final decision but a prima facie finding.
Lokayukta is not a judge. He is merely an investigating authority. He is like a director of vigilance with more independence, he said.
"You are mistaken that a person goes to jail just because Lokayukta is found him guilty of corruption charges", said Parrikar.
He blamed Anna Hazare's agitation has created for creating wrong impression in the minds of the public that Lokayukta is a final solution.
"Lokayukta's decision can be challenged in the court and stay could be obtained like Yedurappa did," he said.
According to him, it would the morality that would prevail. The minister, after found guilty, could resign voluntarily or even the CM could drop him, but on the grounds of morality and not by law.
"I will resign if found guilty", said Parrikar.
But when asked whether he would drop his minister if found guilty, he said it would depend on what is the issue.

How many more "Investigative Agencies" does a small state like Goa require.
The current investigative agencies like CBI,NIA,ACB take years too complete any investigation....and worse still , they are nteven successful.
I am begining to believe, that Mr Parrikar has a "superiority Complex" and believes all Goans are illiterate or uneducated and can be fooled.
After being cornered, Mr Parrikar seems to make foolish excuses.So who is the fool?

Guys, Mr. Parrikar has done wonders in goa. Introspect yourselves and think why???..
when so much off corruption has to be eradicated a body is needed to fight these irresponsible ppl tearing away the pride we ppl hold as goans..
I'am from down south though I have lived my entire life here in goa in india my beautiful ppl. we are all one .. one india.. we can all contribute in the work that we do to make goa/india a wonderful place to live in. Ask urselves honestly and throw away all this bullshit religion clashes etc... we are all humans and want a good place to live in .. thats all.. is it too much to ask??

Why do we need Lokayukta when the same job can be done by ACB or CID etc?
We would be better off without this toothless Lokayukta.
We can also save about 3 cores a month on wages, salaries and allowances of Lokayukta and staff
