The top brass of apparel retailer Fabindia was on Friday questioned by Goa Police in the CCTV camera case even as its CEO said the company would do everything possible to restore Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani's confidence in it as a customer.
Goa Police's crime branch questioned seven top officials of Fabindia including CEO Subrata Dutta and MD William Bissel.
The crime branch is conducting a probe for voyeurism after Irani alleged earlier this month that she spotted the CCTV camera pointed at the trial room at Fabindia's Condolim store during a visit for shopping.
"We have reputed people who are our customers. I won't be surprised if Irani has visited us in the past. But I definitely hope that we will be able to re-instill the confidence in Irani so that she keeps visiting our stores. We will do everything to make sure that it happens," Dutta said here.
He was speaking to reporters after he and Bissel emerged from the four-hour long questioning at the Goa Police crime branch headquarters.
Dutta and other top officers of the company have been granted anticipatory bail by the district court in Mapusa.
"The entire incident has left us in a state of shock. But we are a strong company. These are moments of introspection for us," he said, adding that the company was cooperating with the investigating officers.
Dutta added that the company was also conducting internal inquiry, and if anything wrong was found, it would be the first to take action.
He also pointed out that 53 per cent of the company's managerial staff is female. Bissel too said that the company "will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the justice is delivered".
