Yet another incident of admitting 19 students to the hospital due to mid-day meal occurred in Pernem today morning.

However, it is still not confirmed whether it was food poisoning.

The students were sent home after treatment and two hours of observation.

The incident occurred at Kamleshwar high school in Korgao today morning, when students of Std V and VII started vomitting little after having mid-day meal.

A student told a teacher that they saw a spider in the plate of one student, but the teacher reportedly neglected the complaint.

Incidentally, children of the mid-day meal supplier also study in the same school.

Brahmanandcharya Self Help Group supplies mid-day meal to almost 13 primary schools and three secondary schools in the villages of Harmal, Pale and Korgao.

Along with parents, even the members of SHG rushed to the hospital with concern.

The same meal was also supplied to other classes of the same school, but nobody was affected.

The authorities have sent samples of the meal to the food and drug administration for varification.

Incidentallly, the food and drug administration officials had visited kitchens of Pernem groups, including this group, but had found nothing wrong.

This is a third incident within a month of admitting students to the hospital after having mid-day meal.

Following 88 students in Canacona, 23 students of Usgao were admitted to the hospital.

The authorities had varirfied that the meal in Usgao was not contaminated.
