'Independent' PG students perform hattrick, sweep GU poll 19/20
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 20 September 2016 20:38 IST

Together for University, the independent group of students, have this year won 19 out of 20 seats.
It was practically a political v/s non-political fight.
The opposition group of students reportedly belonged to the political groups like the BJP Yuva Morcha and ABVP combine and even the Nationalist Congress Party.
More significant is that the Congress-backed NSUI has not been contesting this election for the last two years.
The state-level Goa University Students’ Council election becomes a political battleground for the politicians and even ministers.
But the post-graduate students have been fighting their own PGSU elections, within the campus, by fielding independent candidates.
Pankaj Gupta was the sole candidate of the opposition group who won the election.
