BJP demands graft probe against Digambar & team
PTI, PANAJI | 08 July 2013 21:21 IST

Goa unit of BJP today demanded that alleged corruption cases involving former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, and his colleagues Churchill Alemao, Vishwajit Rane and Chandrakant Kavlekar (all from Congress) should be probed.
A resolution to this effect was passed by the state BJP executive held here, chaired by party's Goa unit chief Vinay Tendulkar.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was also present. "Executive demands that corruption by former Congress ministers like Digambar Kamat, Churchill Alemao, Vishwajit Rane and Chandrakant Kavlekar should be investigated by the state government and (it should) fufill the promise made in the 2012 election manifesto," the resolution said.
The executive also condemned the opposition's attempts to destabilise the BJP government. "The executive condemns the move to destabilise the government by disrespecting the people's mandate," it said.
The opposition party (Congress) and independent legislators were trying to engineer a defection in the ruling dispensation, the executive alleged.

Yes. Alleged corruption by these persons needs to be probed. Probe corruption allegations also against Dhavalikar and others who were part of the earlier government.
Defections can be engineered in the BJP only when the the BJP MLAs are willing to defect.
As usual in Goa, every MLA wants to become minister and that is the reason destabilising moves take place.
In this connection, I respect Mr. Wagh, MLA of St. Andre constituency, who has openly said that he deserves to be made a minister.
Others also have ambitions but are not coming clear.

One of the strongest & possibly main reasons for the BJP winning the last elections was the promise( in their manifesto) of bringing corrupt Congress MLAs to book.
Goans viewed this cancer of Congress corruption as terminal. It was high time it was lacerated.
Many Goans I have spoken to have stated that they cannot go about their daily lives without being confronted by Corruption at each and every level....be it the Panchayats, Police, Mamlatdars, Passport office, RTO,TCP, Block Development Officers etc.
At the very top of this corruption ladder is the MLAs. At the lowest level it is the Village Panchayats bodies.
As per most people, the Panchayats are the worst. They are hot-beds of corruption. The "levels of good service" provided to local citizens by Panchayats are virtually non existent.Every application made to the Panchayats comes with the added cost of an ill affordable & Bank breaking Bribe.
The interference by MLA`s in the functioning of & influencing of Panchayats too, are a scourge or a thorn in the sides for Locals.
It is a well known fact, that in South Goa that the Alemao Family control the Colva, Benaulim & Varca Panchayats.
Using their financial muscle (looted of course) they have planted their stooges ,cohorts & nincompoops in these Panchayats.
I appreciate the BJP needs time after coming to power to unearth & thoroughly investigate all the Congress Scams and specially those by its MLAs.
It is my opinion that the day these Goan scumbags( Congress MLAs) are tried & jailed, many Goans will have their most dearest of all wishes fulfilled.
At this juncture I am surprised that the name of Ravi Naik has been excluded from this "Gang of Four" . But I trust this will change in due course.... to a "Gang of ????".
The top of my personal League of the most corrupt are Churchill Alemao (accompanied by "The Virgin of Doom",Valanka) & Digamber Kamat.
