Goa gets 1 Lakh more tourists this year

Charter tourists at Goa's green resort
Goa has shown four per cent rise in tourist arrivals this year with one lakh more tourists arriving than last year.
Goa has also received more charter flights as well more cruise ships this year.
The latest figures available with tourism department reveal that 27.8 lakh tourists arrived this year, compared to 26.7 lakh recorded last year.
The rise is marginal – only 4.1 per cent.
These tourists also include 4.50 lakh foreign tourists compared to 4.45 lakh foreigners last year.
The growth in foreign tourists is hardly 50,000 or hardly one per cent rise.
The number of charter flights also rose this year to 987 with 2.15 lakh tourists, compared to 910 charter flights getting 1.69 lakh tourists last year, from October to mid-May.
Russia topped the list with 742 charter flights, followed by 152 flights from United Kingdom.
Goa also received this year 25 cruise ships carrying 22,233 passengers, compared to 20 vessels carrying 11,946 passengers last year.
“We are delighted to see the upswing in the arrivals of domestic and foreign tourists, which touched an all-time high”, said Goa tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar.
