PSI Sandhya Gupta
The Anti-Corruption Bureau has finally filed a chargesheet against Police Sub Inspector Sandhya Gupta in a bribe case.
Along with her, police constable Raju Warang has also been chargesheeted.
Both of them were nabbed in 2007 for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Lajawanti Datwani, while working in the Anti Narcotic Cell.
According to information sought from ACB, Lajwanti’s son was arrested by the ANC for possessing little amount of charas.
While he was released on bail, PSI Gupta allegedly assured Lajawanti to weaken the case and manage the court proceedings, provided she was paid Rs 10,000.
As Lajawanti approached the ACB, the anti-corruption squad had laid down a trap on 8 October 2007, catching Warang red handed accepting the bribe on behalf of PSI Gupta.
Both of them were then immediately dismissed, but PSI Gupta managed to get reinstated by approaching the high court.
PSI Gupta is presently posted in the Goa Reserve Police.
According to ACB officials, the chargesheet was delayed due to refusal by CFSL in Chandigarh to provide analysis of voice recording (voice spectography).
