Goa Governor listening to delegation led by Aires Rodrigues
Goa governor has decided to go ahead with the swearing in of Justice B Sudarshan Reddy as Goa’s first Lokayukta tomorrow, in spite of opposition parties demanding not to.
Raj Bhavan sources told goanews.com that Justice Reddy would be administered oath of secrecy at 3.30 pm tomorrow.
Earlier, a delegation of 12 members, headed by social activists Aires Rodrigues, met Governor Bharat Vir Wanchoo, requesting him to stop the swearing in ceremony.
The Governor assured them to examine the issue and take an appropriate decision.
The delegation, assisted by Congress MLA Aleixo Reginald Lourenco, told the governor that Reddy’s appointment was not transparent.
Adv Rodrigues also informed the Governor that the selection of Justice Reddy would be legally challenged besides taking the issue to the people’s Court.
He also told the Governor that Advocate General Atmaram Nadkarni could not have been entrusted the task of searching a Lokayukta but could have instead written to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and some other High Court Chief Justices seeking names for the post of Lokayukta.
