Cong takes U turn to oppose Lokayukta amendments
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 07 February 2013 19:58 IST

It is now turn of the Congress Legislature Party to take a U turn, on the Lokayukta amendments. The CLP has decided to oppose all the amendments made to the Lokayukta act.
In the Assembly, the Congress legislatures had objected only to the high amount of fines proposed to be imposed for a false and frivolous complaint.
The Congress, led by opposition leader Pratapsing Rane, had staged a walk out on the issue, stating that they are not opposed to the amendment of imposing fine but the government not agreeing to reduce the amount of fine.
But today evening Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginald Lourenco told the media that the CLP had decided to oppose all the amendments.
He did not elaborate on what is their objection to each amendment, including expanding the period of Lokayukta's term as well as appointing either retired high court chief justice or a supreme court judge as the Lokayukta.
"Parrikar has diluted the Lokayukta act by bringing these amendments", said Lourenco.
The CLP plans to meet the Governor with a demand not to give assent to the Lokayukta amendment bill.
The Governor is presently out of station, said Lourenco.

Nothing has changed after the BJP took over.
With or without lokayukta , the rampant corruption is on going.
In Anjuna , to repair a house someone paid more than 35 thousand for street lamp donation.
Now BJP took over and the panchayat demands again from the same persons saying the earlier money went to congress.
To repair your own house ! This happens only in Goa!
Zenith of corruption ! When can we see these people behind the bars ?
