Dr Mashelkar with others presenting Vision 2035
A report of Goa Vision 2035 prepared by the Golden Jubilee Development Council would be kept open for public comments for two months.
Dr Ragunath Mashelkar, eminent scientist and chairman of the Council, presented the report to chief minister Manohar Parrikar yesterday.
Among several suggestions, the Council has suggested a world-class university in Goa, while vying to make it an educational hub in the country.
After presenting the report, Dr Mashelkar said the report would be put to public domain since the council feels it should not come only from the top but should also take into consideration suggestions from the bottom.
“There is also a suggestion to raise a corpus fund of one billion dollars to build a world class university”, said Dr Mashelkar.
The council has also suggested a staff selection centre to appoint government servants, which is around every 26th Goan at present.
The council has also suggested a mechanism to measure happiness of the people.
Parrikar, after accepting the report, said it would take around a year to start implementing the suggestions in the report.
