Have Covid19 cases really dropped to 187? Where?

GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 18 October 2020 23:11 IST

Hope it is true that Goa found only 187 Covid19 positive cases on Sunday. Because it’s a huge drop. But unfortunately, it cannot be traced in the health bulletins published by the Goa government.

From 309 new positive cases found yesterday, the number has dropped to 187 today. It’s a huge huge fall.

It was 6th August, over two months ago, Goa had reported daily cases below 200 mark, 191 cases on 6th August.

Otherwise, it has always been above 200 throughout the last two months.

In fact, the whole month, from 18th September to 18th October, has witnessed cases above 500 and even 600 every day.

Daily cases had fallen below 400 in the last four days, since 14th October.

Even on 8th October, 308 new cases were reported but had shot up to 408 the next day.

Since then, it has been 356, 332, 321, and 309 cases from 14th to 17th October.

And the sudden drop of 122 cases was reported today, with the number of new cases going down to 187.

Unfortunately, however, the huge drop could not be traced in the health bulletins issued by the Directorate of Health Services every day.

As per the comparative table, there are only 33 new cases, not 187.

And the recovered cases in 24 hours are only 212, not 360 as reported in the health bulletin.

New cases found are only 12 at Madgao health centre, seven at Dharbandora, five at Porvorim, four at Chimbel, two at Cansaultim and one each at Cansarvarne, Curtorim and Ponda health centres.

While the health bulletin claims that 360 patients have recovered in 24 hours, goanews.com could trace only 212 cases at 26 health centres.

It’s a big sigh of relief if cases are actually dropping every day. But the figures provided by the DHS simply don’t match.

Will the DHS clarify?
