Vasco stages a comeback as DHS continues to hide cases; 588 today, 242 hidden

Goa government continues to play hide and seek while the daily count of Covid cases reached the highest count today: 588. We could trace only 346 cases while it is not known which health centres the rest 242 cases are reported at.
When goanews.com compared the figures of today’s health bulletin with yesterday, it was observed that cases have risen practically at every health centre out of 33, except five: Aldona (Bardez), Cansarvarne (Pedne), Madkai (Ponda) as well as Chinchinim and Madgao (Salcete).
Though 242 cases are still not known, the highest spurt of cases is found at Sankhli HC, 68 in one day. From 24th August (after Chovoth) till 31st August, in eight days, 70 more cases were reported. But this is one-day rise, almost equal to the last eight days.
Second in the line is Ponda HC, with a rise in 32 cases. The count has gone to 132 now with 100 cases reported till 31 August since Ganpati was immersed.
Chovoth becomes significant here since almost 70 per cent of people living in towns go to their villages to celebrate Goa’s most popular Hindu festival. Due to Covid19, majority preferred to immerse the idol of Lord Ganesh in one-and-a-half days.
And after consistent decline since 24th September, Vasco has staged a comeback. From 250 cases on 24th August, it had gone down to 226 cases. But today 27 cases are added in one day.
Vasco has been the Covid hotspot of Goa right from the beginning.
After consistent decline in the last eight days, capital city of Panaji has also reported a rise of 17 cases.
Mapusa city continues to show a rising trend of cases, with an addition of 15 more cases today. There are 185 positive cases in the commercial town right now.
Madgao is the only city that is showing a consistent decline. From 453 yesterday, it has come down to 433 today. But in terms of present positive cases, Madgao has the highest number. In fact it had reported 525 cases on 20th August.
Covid19 cases however continue to go up at most of the rural centres, indicating that Chovoth has spread the virus in the villages, which was a trend mainly in the towns otherwise.
