Opt for Home Quarantine, but beware, you’ll be watched…
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 10 June 2020 20:20 IST
Goa government has once again revised the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Goans entering the home state from outside the state in view of Covid19 outbreak all around the Globe.
After interacting with other political parties, MLAs, Sarpanchas/panchas as well as councillors and discussing in the cabinet today, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant announced the new SOP for the people travelling from outside Goa.
It applies to all those coming to Goa by road, air, train or water transport.
The SOP for the stranded Indians in foreign countries as well as the seafarers however continues to be the same.
The asymptomatic (without Covid19 symptoms) travellers have now once again being allowed to go for Home Quarantine, but under strict surveillance of local panchas/councillors, panchayat secretary/chief officer and would be monitored by local health officer as well as police.
“We had dropped this provision earlier as people with Home Quarantine stamp were found to be roaming freely and mixing around carelessly”, said Dr Sawant.

However the new SOP now warns the Home Quarantined people of shifting them to the paid institutional quarantine facility ‘along with their family members’ if they are found violating the norms.
The other two options to such travellers remain the same:
1) Produce Covid negative certificate issued 48 hours before arrival by a laboratory authorised by ICMR.
2) On arrival, get the Covid test done by paying Rs 2000 and stay in isolation at government facility till the report comes.
“They will get their report within two to three days”, said the chief minister.
In case the traveller is found Covid symptomatic, he/she would be shifted to Covid hospital.
According to CM, till date, 108 such travellers have been found Covid positive.
“All of them are Goans, except two drivers and one patient who had travelled down to Goa with due permission”, said CM.
They also include the seafarers as well as NRIs.
There are many like Pooja Bedi, who have also come down to from Mumbai as well as quite a few from Delhi, who own a second home in Goa.
Goa Forward leader Vijai Sardesai had in fact alleged that Goa government has allowed trains and flights only to accommodate the Delhiites having influence in the top BJP circle at the centre.
Reacting to this, CM said: “anyone who is holding Adhar Card with Goa residence is a Goan. What can we do?”
