Rane to be sworn in at 11.30 pm

Pratapsing Rane, the state opposition leader, would be sworn in as the chief minister at 11.30 pm tonight.

Rane, on behalf of the Congress-led United Legislature Party, staked the claim to form an alternate government after the Manohar Parrikar government was dismissed by Governor S C Jamir.

Earlier, in a joint meeting of the alliance legislators, Rane was elected the legislature party leader unanimously.

The other partners of the alliance are the Nationalist Congress Party, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, the United Goans Democratic Party and an independent.
