Goan men not drunkards, women not bikini-clad: Goa CM
INDIAN EXPRESS, PANAJI | 09 February 2016 19:39 IST

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has said Goans are not to be blamed for “misconceptions” about the state and insisted that women seen in bikinis or people attired in “exceptional” dresses on the beaches are tourists and not local residents.
“The tourists who come here watch another fellow tourist and return with misconception. You will not find Goans drunk on the roads or any local girl in bikini,” he said. CLICK TO READ MORE

All said and done, one will have to give Parsekar some credit for making such bold statements, and standing up to nonsense spoken by Badal and the like. Here, he also moves from the shadow of Parrikar.
I would also like to add, that, the media is also responsible in a big way, in depicting a negative impression about Goa. Take for example, the picture that accompanies this piece of news, is surely not of one of our Goan beaches, however, if you click to read the main story, IE has a totally different picture.
Unfortunately, we need to first handle our local media, the national media in addition to Bollywood, in order to dissuade them from promoting Goans as morally loose and drunkards.
Wearing of bikinis or having a glass of of beer (sometimes too many) doesn't necessarily mean that we are morally loose or drunkards.
MGP and BJP should also understand this and let Goa be Goa!!!!!!!
