Cabral sweeps Curchorem with win-win policy
MAYUR NAIK, CURCHOREM | 27 October 2015 14:00 IST

Without forming a panel, Curchorem BJP legislator Nilesh Cabral literally swept the Curchorem-Cacora municipal council election, winning 12 out of 14 seats.
Aparna Prabhudesai and Shrikant Gaonkar are the only ‘independents’ not supporting the BJP-supported council.
The rest 12 ‘independents’ have been brought together by Cabral, claiming it to be the BJP council.
Shrikant Gaonkar, whose other ‘like-minded’ associates got defeated in the municipal election, has declared issue-based support to the new council.
“I am having support of 12 elected candidates”, confirms Cabral.
Instead of forming a panel, Cabral had preferred to support some individuals ‘secretively’ since his own party supporters were contesting against each other.
The formula has proved to be a win-win situation for Cabral right now, not knowing whether a big bunch of ‘individuals’ would remain ‘together’ for the full term of five years.
It would be thus a litmus test for Cabral, though presently he is over joyously enjoying the clean sweep.
Interestingly, no Congress leaders showed keen interest in the municipal election in Curchorem-Cacora.
