Vishwasrao Dempo expires, funeral Sunday morning

Vishwasrao Dempo, a co-founder of Goa’s one of the leading Dempo Group, expired today evening.

He was 71.

His funeral will leave from his Dona Paula bungalow at 11 am tomorrow (Sunday), for the St Cruz family crematorium.

Vishwasrao, the son of late Vaicuntrao Dempo, is also the father of Yatish and Rajesh as well as uncle of Srinivas Dempo.

He died at Manipal hospital in Panaji after a brief illness.

Friends and relatives are requested to pay condolences at Dempo’s ancestral house at St Cruz later.

Besides the director of Dempo Group of Companies, Vishwasrao was also the trustee of the Dempo Charities Trust, which runs four prestigious educational institutions and undertakes philanthropic activities.

Vishwasrao was also the director of Teri- Dempo initiative, V S Dempo Holding Pvt Ltd, a flagship company of Dempo Group.

Besides business activity, Vishwasrao was actively involved in socio-cultural activities.

Because of his positive involvement in the Global Sight First programme of Lions Club International he was awarded the coveted Melvin Jones Fellowship.

Known for his humble and ever-smiling personality, he had also become a Patron of Indian Red Cross Society recently.

He was felicitated with several awards for his contributions to the society.
