Goa Assembly today congratulated the makers of Konkani musical hit 'Nachom-ia-kumpasar' (Let's dance together to the rhythm), which bagged the national film awards in three different categories.
Supporting a motion by BJP member Vishnu Surya Wagh urging the House to pat the makers of the film, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar showered praises on the movie adding that after hosting International Film festival of India (IFFI) in Panaji, the film culture is on the rise in Goa.
"I congratulate the makers of this movie for winning such accolades," the Chief Minister said.
Highlighting that the choice of Goa as the permanent IFFI venue has given a further boost to film industry in the state, Parsekar said, "The government will support the filmmakers and for that we have already drawn up several schemes."
The motion congratulating the movie and its director Baldroy Barretto was moved by BJP legislator Wagh, terming the film as a "must watch" for everyone.
"The music is the USP of this film and it takes back viewers to the 60s,70s and 80s in Goa," he said.
The film narrates the story of a music composer and singer and their emotional journey.
It received awards in Best Production Design, Best Konkani Film categories and received special mention for its female lead Palomi Ghosh.
Released in December last year, the film is a fictional account of the yesteryear musicians of Goa and depicts the era of 60s and 70s when the state was liberated from 450 years of Portuguese rule.
Starring Vijay Maurya and Ghosh, the film was shot over two years, beginning from 2012.

Chris Perry and Lorna changed the music scene of Goa forever when they joined to pool their talent. Now it looks like their story is set to change Konkani cinema forever. Its going to Cannes film festival. I feel pretty sure it will win something. As I am out of Goa, I have not yet seen the film, but have seen enough films to know which is gold and silver or iron. Bravo to the Nacho ia Kumpasar team.
