BJP's debacle because Parrikar went to Delhi: Babush

GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 20 March 2015 22:17 IST

“It’s a result of Manohar Parrikar going to Delhi”, feels St Cruz MLA Babush Monseratte.

He was recently expelled from the Congress for openly supporting BJP MLA Siddharth Kuncalienker, who won the bye-election after defence minister Parrikar had quit the Panaji seat.

Babush, who won both the ZP seats as well his wife’s Taleigao seat in the ZP election, has his own analysis of the debacle of the BJP in the election.

The Taleigao unit of the BJP has however alleged that their own party government did not support them during the election.

Though the BJP has quite a good cadre base in Taleigao, the saffron party never wins any seat – Panchayat, ZP or the Assembly.

Majority of the people in Taleigao feel that Parrikar has a secret understanding with Babush to negotiate his victory from Panaji every time.

The shadow of Babush supporting Parrikar’s candidate Kuncalienker in Panaji election and then negotiating the deputy mayor’s seat to make Panaji mayor of the BJP was spread over the ZP election.

He has however not supported the BJP in ZP when it falls short of one seat to come to power.

Babush has decided to wait and watch, not known till the ZP is formed or till Parrikar comes down for a weekend from the national capital.
