Shripad Naik takes charge of Culture ministry

Perhaps for the first time in the history, Goa got a central ministry also concerning the state – Shripad Naik getting tourism portfolio, along with Culture, with independent charge.

The official list of portfolios was announced today morning while Naik also took charge of both the offices.

It was a demand made by chief minister Manohar Parrikar as well as state BJP unit to allot Naik either mining or tourism.

The desire was also expressed by local industry and prime minister Narendra Modi fulfilled it.

While talking to Economic Times, Naik said he wants to focus on building tourism infrastructure and developing Varanasi, a holy temple city, as a tourist destination.

The Economic Times report states as follows:

The efforts of the new tourism ministry will be directed at developing tourism infrastructure in the country so as to provide a boost to the sector, NDA government's Tourism Minister Shripad Yesso Naik said after assuming charge here today.

Naik, who hails from Goa, said that development of tourism infrastructure is essential for the growth of the sector.

He also said that issues concerning visa and security need to be addressed and a tourist should feel safe in the country.

"There are some problems regarding visa and security of tourists and these will be addressed to attract more foreign visitors to the country," Naik said.

Referring to incidents involving foreign tourists, he said, "There are some incidents in the past which have created a bad name for the country. We need to address that; a tourist should feel safe here."

Naik, who has also been given charge of the Culture Ministry, said that the tourism sector has job-creating capacity and should be given a boost through collective efforts.

Seeking the cooperation of other ministries, he said, "We need support from the Civil Aviation, Home and other departments concerned to boost tourism as the ministry alone cannot do much on its own."

Asked if he had any plans for the Ganga and Varanasi, the temple town on the banks of the holy river from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi won in the Lok Sabha polls, Naik said, "We want to develop Varanasi as a tourist city and I will discuss the issue with the Prime Minister. He has a vision for the holy city and accordingly it will be done."

The Tourism Ministry recently sanctioned Rs 18 crore for the development of Varanasi ghats and construction of jetties there.

Honourable Shripad Naik, seems to be a decent person and Statesman like.

We hope he will give his Beloved Goa a fair share of Tourism attention and budgets.

However I am at pains, to say the same about the current Tourism Minister of Goa Dilip Parulekar. He has been proved to be dishonourable in many of his actions i.e obtaining communidade Land/ property through deceit /forgery, purchasing Luxury Penthouses in Salubrious locations in Panjim from unknown financial resources and associating him self with criminal's and history Sheeters.

To add to his portfolio of fraudulent activities,s, he has been "doctoring" his Facebook Page to claim he was attending the Swearing-in Ceremony of PM Narendra Modi.

There are rumours that the CM Mr Parrikar may be re-shuffling some of his Cabinet portfolios soon.

It is imperative, in the interest of Goa, its Tourism and the image of the BJP , that Mr Dilip Parulekar gets sacked from his Ministerial/ Cabinet Post.

The Congress Party in Goa had many "bad boys" or (Bad BOYZ!!) and bad women too( Bad Girlz) i.e Victoria-ji, Jennifer-ji and Valanka-ji.

Cry baby and ticketless Valanka-ji, was running helter-skelter around India, as a petty Congress campaigner for their LS seats.

It is time the BJP threw out those within its ranks that seem to exhibit the same traits /bad habits/criminal intentions as the Congress "Bad Boyz".....or else they should be prepared to face the wrath of the Goan Voter at the next elections, due in 3 years time.
