Goa to enact single window law for film shoots

Goa government will have a single window system for clearances of film shootings in the state by enacting a legislation to this effect, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told the Legislative Assembly today.
“We are working on a legislation to have single window system for film shootings in Goa,” Parrikar told the House, adding that sectors like tourism and industry will also have similar facilities.
Once the single window system is in place, except for statutory requirements all other permissions will be given by a committee to be set up in this regard, he said.
Goa has been increasingly preferred as a film shooting destination by filmmakers, especially from Bollywood.
State-run Entertainment society of Goa (ESG) is currently the nodal agency to approve film shootings here.
According to government estimates, more than 200 shootings, including films, documentaries and advertisement films, are done in the state, which has a long beachline.
Many successful films like Mohit Suri’s ‘Ashiqui 2′, Rohit Shetty’s ‘Chennai Express’ and Milan Luthria’s ‘Once Upon a time in Mumbai Dobaara’ were partially shot in Goa.
The records available with ESG show that even tele-serials and reality shows are stepping into the scene.
In the beginning of 2013, Shahrukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Chennai Express’ was shot in Goa. Vikram Bhatt’s ‘Hate Story 2′ was also shot in the state extensively at different locations on various dates. Sunny Leone and Tamil actor Bharat aka Bharath Niwas’ flick ‘Jackpot’ also had Goa as a shooting location.
