Tejpal to be formally arrested, remand tomorrow
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 30 November 2013 20:26 IST

Rape accused Tarun Tejpal will be arrested by the crime branch of Goa police now at any moment as his anticipatory bail application has been rejected.
He will be produced for remand tomorrow, within 24 hours, before the concerned judge, police sources told goanews.com.
While the judgement was pronounced by Panaji district and sessions judge Anuja Prabhudesai, Tehelka founder editor Tejpal was sitting at the crime branch office at Dona Paula, hoping that he would be granted bail.
Under section 41 (D) of the CrPC, the judge however has allowed Tejpal to meet his family, friends, lawyers as well as home food in the custody.
Investigating officer Sunita Sawant initially opposed home food but later agreed, said the sources.
The dictation of the judgement had started at 4.30 pm today and was finally pronounced at around 8.10 pm.
Tejpal has been accused to raping a junior colleague twice on 7 and 8 November at Grand Hyatt at Bambolim during THiNK Fest, organised by Tehelka.
