Goa police has warned members of social networking sites of taking legal action if they go overboard in commenting on Tejpal sex scandal that would hurt dignity of the victim girl.
“We have taken note of several writings on social networking sites writing about the case and will not hesitate to take legal action, if required”, said Goa DIG O P Mishra.
The question in this regard was raised during a press conference at Panaji police headquarters today.
"There is a broad principle and protocol that is followed when we are investigating the cases like sexual assault. The sensitivity of every stakeholder in such a case is very important," he said.
Mishra pointed out that the case is very sensitive, involving dignity of the girl victim, which needs to be protected during investigation.
“I request all the people to be sensitive and not commit any such act that would hurt her dignity”, said Mishra.
Discussion about the most debated allegedly rape case is going viral on several social networking sites.
“People should realize that their writings can have criminal implications and restraining themselves while commenting on it”, the DIG said.
Tarun Tejpal, the editor-in-chief of Tehelka, has been charged with raping his junior colleague two weeks ago at Grand Hyatt at Bambolim, during THiNK Fest the national magazine had organised.
