Babush revolts against Rane in 'Cong-9'

Old habits die hard. Members of the opposition Congress, having only nine members in the 40-member House, have revolted against its leader – opposition leader Pratapsing Rane.
The issue, on the eve of the six-day winter Assembly session beginning tomorrow, is the Speaker restricting questions to 18 per day each legislator.
It includes three starred questions and 15 unstarred questions.
Congress observer A Chellakumar has already flown down to Goa to pacify the rebel group of Congress legislators, this time led by St Cruz MLA Babush Monseratte.
The decision to restrict number of questions each day was taken at the Business Advisory Committee meeting, which Rane is the member of.
Babush has alleged ‘match fixing’ between his leader Rane and chief minister Manohar Parrikar.
While independent MLA Vijay Sardesai was the first one to protest against the decision, Rane publicly endorsed the decision.
The counter-reaction to Rane’s reaction was visible yesterday when three members of the nine-member Congress boycotted the Congress Legislature Party.
The meeting was attended by only four – Mauvin Godinho, Aleixo Reginald Lourenco, Rane and his son Vishwajeet.
Babush was supported by his wife Jennifer and Pandurang Madkaikar.
Digambar Kamat and Babu Kavalekar simply skipped the meeting, saying they are preoccupied with important work.
Sources say that demand is brewing up to change the legislature leader, due to which Chellakumar had to fly down.
“I have lost faith in my leadership locally”, quipped Babush.
Perhaps this is the reason the AICC secretary was busy holding confabulations with all the legislators till late night.
