Not interested in forming alternate Govt: Cong

The opposition Congress has amply clarified that it is not interested in toppling the BJP-led government and forming an alternative.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Subhash Shirodkar firmly stated that his party was not interested in any kind of toppling game.
With chief minister Manohar Parrikar going abroad for a week, rumours are afloat of some disgruntled BJP MLAs are planning to toppled Parrikar government by resigning.
“We respect people’s mandate that has elected us to remain in opposition for five years. We will follow it judiciously”, said Shirodkar.
While stating that there was no such proposal from anyone, Shirodkar also said they would not respond even if a proposal comes.
“We are listening to such rumours for last one year”, he said, while dismissing it.
Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginald Lourenco also made it clear that the opposition party is not interested in forming any alternate government.
“We are elected to oppose and we will take up public issues, nothing more”, he said.
Shirodkar also said they are busy planning to accord big welcome newly appointed Goa observer Digvijay Singh.
Both – general secretary Singh and secretary A Chella Kumar – are arriving in Goa on 3 July.
The central leaders would meet the GPCC the same day, after which they would address workers’ convention at Gomantak Marathi Samaj hall at 4 pm.
They would then meet prominent Congress leaders the next day, before leaving for Delhi.
The GPCC today also congratulated three Goan Congressmen appointed at AICC level – general secretary Luizinho Faleiro as well as Shantaram Naik and Girish Chodankar as secretaries.
