Ponda municipal council meet
The first council meeting of Ponda municipality has suspended services as a legal advisor of Satish Pilgaonkar, close associate of former Congress minister Ravi Naik.
The PMC has also instituted an inquiry by the chief officer, terming his appointment illegal.
Chairperson Radhika Nayak told goanews.com that the council decided not to accept resignation of Pilgaonkar tendered on 14 May but to suspend his services and conduct the inquiry.
According to her, Pilgaonkar’s appointment was pre-dated and thus illegal.
He was appointed after he lost 2008 election but shown as appointed prior to election.
She also alleged that the legal advisor was involved in political activity and had even canvassed for the candidates of a panel.
Claiming that Pilgaonkar had even passed on some documents to the party the PMC was fighting the case with, Nayak felt he resigned since he was involved in all such kind of manipulations.
