Ponda to have flyover to cross the city

GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 21 May 2013 19:32 IST

Ponda will have Goa’s first longest flyover of 2.8 kilometers to reduce the congestion in the city.

The flyover would be built from Borim to Kurti, said chief minister Manohar Parrikar.

After congratulating newly elected Ponda chairperson Radhika Nayak and her team at his official Altinho residence, Parrikar said the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation has approved the project.

“It will reduce 80 per cent congestion in the city”, said Parrikar.

The GSIDC plans to provide lanes going down to different roads from the flyover.

The project is expected to cost around Rs 80 to 100 crore, for which the transport department has already been provided with Rs 25 crore.

Parrikar expects the work to begin by November and complete within one and a half years.
