Goa meet to put BJP house in order
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE, NEW DELHI | 20 May 2013 16:20 IST

Following its humiliating defeat in the Karnataka Assembly elections, the chief Opposition BJP will seek to put its house in order and keep its organisation fighting fit for a slew of Assembly elections and likely early general elections at its upcoming national executive meet in Goa next month.
The two-day executive scheduled for June 8-9 will be preceded by a meeting of the party’s office-bearers on June 7.
“Mass mobilisation programmes against the UPA Government’s multi-pronged failures, and a blueprint to keep the organisation in a state of high preparedness for the various elections ahead would be the twin agendas for the Goa national executive,” said a party national general secretary.
The BJP has already announced a week-long “jail bharo” agitation from May 27 to June 2 against the various scams and corruption, which had occurred during the UPA-II tenure.
And the national executive will devise ways on how to further intensify the movement against the Congress-led Government.
The upcoming Assembly elections in Rajasthan, Delhi and the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are a top priority for the party. But the BJP also bracing itself for an early general election.
BJP president Rajnath Singh had recently told Express that the Lok Sabha polls could take place as early as in November.
He had also said that the party will begin announcing its candidates for the Lok Sabha elections from July.
And the BJP meet will discuss all these aspects in detail.
While Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would be an obvious attraction at the gathering, the BJP said there would be no announcement of the party’s PM candidate.
“Any announcement on the PM candidate can be made by the BJP Parliamentary Board alone. No meeting of the Parliamentary Board has been planned at the Goa meet,” said party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar.
