Cannes to invite Aishwarya once again

The French government will invite Aishwarya Rai Bacchan once again for the Cannes Film Festival scheduled later this year.
Cannes will celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema, a senior diplomat said on Saturday.
Aishwarya was conferred upon a civilian award by the French government for her contribution to the arts on the occasion of her birthday.
Francois Richier, France Ambassador to India, told reporters in Goa that Aishwarya is always respected in France because of her association with the Cannes film festival.
“She is very dear to our heart and we are very greatful to her,” said Richier, who had conferred the civilian award to Bachchan on behalf of the government.
The Cannes festival will have special focus on Indian Cinema this year.
The organisers plan to invite the Indian filmstars, the Ambassador said, adding that Aishwarya would also be invited as she is special for the country.
He said that Aishwarya’s French connection is a long one, right from the time she has been endorsing a French cosmetic brand, successfully.
