Ponda politician transporting illegal ore?
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 09 April 2013 16:22 IST

A politician from Ponda is involved in transportation of iron ore illegally, Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar has alleged, while demanding action.
Chief minister Manohar Parrikar has assured action against not only the transporter but also the person involved in storing it and the person to whom the ore was going.
“I have told the police to investigate it from all the angles and act against all those involved in it”, said Parrikar.
Mamledar, who defeated former home minister Ravi Naik in Ponda, alleged that one politician from Ponda alleged to have been involved in this illegal ore transportation, but did not name him.
According to Mamledar, the transporter is a diesel thief who later started stealing iron ore and became filthy rich with bungalows in Ponda and Panaji and lavish cars.
In spite of having all the evidence of illegal transportation, Mamledar said no action has been initiated against even the truck driver.
“Driver is a small fry. We will catch the real brains behind this illegality”, said Parrikar.
With Supreme Court stalling the mining operations in Goa, transportation of iron ore is banned since October last year.
