V-VI students to get Notebooks, in June

The government has finally decided to give Notebooks to the students of Std V and VI, by June first week.

“We have decided to give them Notebooks and not Tablets”, said chief minister Manohar Parrikar.

The state government, in the budget last year, had announced to give either tablets or notebooks to the students from Std V to IX, in stages.

Following this, Parrikar said every year they would give notebooks to the students of Std IX to clear the backlog, while also giving notebooks to the students of Std V every year.

The backlog would thus be cleared in three years, he added.

The state government already gives laptops to the students of Std XI every year.

The government plans to arm students with E-learning kits along with this, so that Goa could get into the age of E-learning.

two chief ministers, mr akhilesh yadav of uttar pradesh and our goa cm both are coming up with same populist doles schemes. Be it notebook, bekari bhatta and so on. It is difficult so say who is copying whom. Ofcourse grandfather or rather grandmother of all is jailalita of tamilnadu who started populism followed by akali dal with free electricity to farmers and old age pensions. States economy may go to hell votonomics is more important then economics thats the mantra. Its an open secret that cms get commission per computer plus they can claim vote of the benificiary. And what are they going to be doing with that, Facebooking, Farmville and play games?? Every school kid in Goa whether 18 or not is having a Facebook account! Once kids are handed out such toys they usually get addicted to doing wrong things on them.

Instead of dolling out such goodies to the kids, Govt. should set up well-equipped computer centers at schools where they could be taught relevant and useful computer related stuff.

Reading and writing habits must also be inculcated in the kids of this age.

I wonder what the success was of the earlier such schemes targeted at the college kids, apart from gaining votes in elections,
