Headmistress suspended in a rape case

GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 17 January 2013 21:54 IST

Succumbing to the increasing pressure from the parent, the management of Vasco-based school suspended the headmistress of the primary section today.

The parents however called off the Vasco bandh called today as the management convened a Parents' Teachers' Association meeting to discuss the fallouts of the rape case.

A seven-year old girl was raped in a school toilet. The accused is still absconding.

The joint meeting of the management and parents also decided that the school would reopen on Monday, 21 January.

The PTA meeting began on a chaotic note with agitating parents unwilling to attend the meeting. The meeting was held amidst tight police security.

School Management Chairman Mara Pandiyan, after two hours of deliberations, announced that the management would take care of all the educational and medical needs of the child and a sum of Rs five lakh would be deposited in her name immediately.

The amount would be handed over to the girl when she matures.

The school management has already decided to install CCTV in the school and tighten its security network.

It is accused that the principal lady wiped the girl clean, basically destroying all the DNA evidence. I wonder if that matters in the dungeon that is Goa/India, and if they have ever heard of DNA/genomic/forensic evidence.

She basically allowed the perpetrator to go scotfree.

In any case that guy must be caught, castrated or given a hole forever because monsters who rape a 7-year old have no place in civil or any society.

How can someone justify the suspension of the headmistress in this rape case? This is just crazy...

What about the responsibility of the school management? Are they trying to make the headmistress a scapegoat? What are the responsibilities of the headmistress? I think someone should check that out first before making such crazy wrong decisions like suspending the headmistress, as it is not the responsibility of the headmistress to keep guard on the school toilets and other property areas, but be responsible for the educational aspect and management of the school teaching staff only.
