Raymond, Borkar elected panchas, also to contest bye-poll
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 17 May 2012 20:55 IST

Raymond D’Sa of Congress and Ramakant Borkar of United Goans Democratic Party, who filled their nominations for Cortalim bye-poll today, are also elected as panchas at panchayat elections.
D’Sa, former deputy sarpanch, is elected from Cortalim panchayat while Borkar, former sarpanch, is elected from Cansaulim.
D’Sa while filing his nomination was accompanied by GPCC president Subhash Shirodkar, opposition leader Pratapsing Rane and Curtorim MLA Alex Reginald Lawrenco.
Neither sole Congress MLA from Mormugao taluka Mauvin Godinho nor Cortalim aspirant and former Navelim MLA Churchill Alemao were present.
Shirodkar claimed Mauvin is out of station while media persons pointed out that he was present at panchayat counting today.
The GPCC chief said Godinho would join the campaign as soon as he is back.
D’Sa said his prime focus during the campaign would be upon Dabolim air port, medium of instruction and bifurcation of Dabolim panchayat.
Borkar, who had contested on UGDP even in last election, however may not get the UGDP symbol two leaves.
“The election commission says the symbol is not recognized. I may have to thus contest as an independent”, said Borkar.
He however gave no indication of withdrawing from the contest.
The Cortalim bye-poll may thus witness a triangular fight, if Borkar does not withdraw by 21 May.

Hi A Pinto:::I think I have an answer to your question.
Raymond D`sa, if elected in Cortalim, will be paying himself handsomely from the Taxpayers money and part time from, various scams.
Remember he has to recoup / recover the money he has spent on self -aggrandisment.

Last elections most of the people had done the clean up and we got 19 new clean MLA's. But now the famous" paid news" candidate Mr. Raymond D'Sa is contesting the by election I think people of Cortalim will be wise enough to give him the kick which he will never forget. If he can do these things before getting elected than I wonder what he will do once he gets elected. Electorate of Cortalim be wise !
