RP01 to be in force with 'good things' of RP21
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 01 May 2012 08:12 IST

Finally, the Regional Plan 2001 would be back. A notification in this regard would be issued next week.
Chief minister Manohar Parrikar however claims that the eco-sensitive zones marked in the RP2021 would continue to be frozen.
How demarcations of RP21 would come into force while RP01 is in force would be known only when the notification with guidelines comes out next week.
It is also now known whether RP01 would include only the original regional plan or also the amendments that followed till controversial RP11 was prepared.
RP01 was part of the era when Goa had witnessed all kind of land conversions, which had also reflected in continuous toppling of the governments.
According to Parrikar, he has no other option than bringing into force RP01 since RP21 has already been frozen.
He plans to rework on RP21 within six months.
“There were certain negative points in 2001 plan, which were taken care while preparing the 2021 plan. As far as these negative points are concerned, the government will stick to RP 21,” he said.
The chief minister also plans to take the panchayat bodies, to be elected on 16 May, into confidence before finalising the new RP21.
