British MP probed for addressing Alemao rally

Election Commission is seeking views of experts on recent public rally addressed by British MP of Indian origin, Keith Vaz, at Varca in South Goa.

Since Vaz is a public representative from a foreign country, the EC officials are studying the rule book to take a stand on the issue.

The MP had addressed a public meeting of the Congress candidate Valanka Alemao on February 12 ahead of March 3 Assembly polls.

"The rules are not specific on whether elected representative(s) of other country can campaign in India for the local elections.

We have taken cognisance of the meeting and asked for the experts' opinion," Joint Chief Electoral Officer Narayan Navti said.

However, as far as Vaz is concerned, the rules are specific to the extent that a foreign national can neither contest election nor can be on the electoral rolls in India, he added.

Vaz was in Goa to address a business conference organised by the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).

He had yesterday told reporters that delivering a speech at the rally was his "personal issue" since he has been knowing Valanka for the last 20 years.

It is shame that after its clear intent to dynastic politics, congress is now promoting DIVIDE & RULE POLICY (South to Alemaos, North Ranes, East Ravis and West Monserate), by IMPORTING BRITISH POLITICIANS (Keith Vaz etc) to whom Indians have kicked out in 1947 due to same divide & rule policy

It is not unusual for this British Parliamentarian of Goan Origin to be embroiled in scandals of one sort or another or associated with corrupt "rogues"...Home or abroad. Mr Keith Vaz is a Labour Party Back bencher and Chairman of the House of Commons select committee. Most recently Mr Keith Vaz was alleged to have been involved in the "Member of Parliament" Expenses scandal. The allegation is that Mr Vaz was on a Business Trip, sponsored by the British Government. He was not on a "Private" Visit under any circumstances. Mr Vaz has claimed he known Valanka Alemao for 20 years. On the basis that Valanka is approximately 30 years old, Mr Vaz must have known her when she was just 10 years old and a child / infant.20 years ago Keith Vaz was not well known in UK Political Circles or Political Arena or the UK Political establishment. I also doubt Valanka Alemao, 10 years of age, even understood the word "Politics" or its definition.20 years ago Valanka`s father, Churchill Alemao would have been more well known for his smuggling and other nefarious activities along with his brothers, than his Political ambitions. Keith Vaz would surely have known this about the Alemaos and it would be inconceivable that he would have been friends with them. However based on the statements of Mr Keith Vaz, one must assume, he was somehow involved in some shady deals with the Alemaos at some time over the 20 years, and continues to do so today too. Many of us would surely excuse "MR BEAN" (Brit comedic actor), for his shortcomings. But as for Mr Keith Vaz, any excuse is not feasible. He no doubt will continue with his usual arrogance and at times display some of his ineptitudes and lack of good judgement and good sense.

I doubt that Mr Keith Vaz will ever understand the bad taste he has left Goans with, following his support & campaigning for Valanka and his open declaration of support for Corruptness.
