The representatives from former colonies in Asia and Africa will be descending on in Goa in February next year to participate in a conference on the 'Evils of Colonialism', Goa NRI Commissioner Eduardo Faleiro said today.
Faleiro told reporters that the conference would be held on February 23-24, 2012 as part of a function to commemorate Golden Jubilee of Goa's liberation from the 450-year-long Portuguese rule.
"Leaders of several former colonies in Asia and Africa will participate in the conference," the NRI commissioner said.
The congregation will focus on the evils of colonialism and the challenges being faced by those countries who are on their way to national renaissance.
Faleiro said the delegates will identify commonalities in the colonial and post-colonial experience.
The conference is jointly organised by Goa NRI Commissionerate and the Indian Council of World Affairs.
The representatives from countries, including Angola, Mozambique, Namibia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia and others from Asia, Africa and Latin American region would be participating in the event, he said.
The conference will also honour Goan freedom fighters who fought for liberation of colonies world-over, Faleiro added.

Sir,
what is the Budget for the big Bash? Where from this money will be spent and whose hard earned money would this be?
Are you sure such Conferences would help us in any way and compensate for the ( wasting)? of hard earned tax payer's money...? What is the priority for this expenditure...?
Why can this huge expenditure be avoided and instead the same used to repair roads, provide drinking water facilities, improve the power supply position, create waste disposal facilities, reclaim the mines sites devastated by mining, rehabilitate drug addicts and liquor addicts, create AIDS awareness, build houses for the poor, put underground cabling, construct bridges on the highways , construct toilets for the schools,......the list of priorities is un ending...where does your Conference Bash fit in the list of priorities....?
