BBSM demands President's rule in Goa over MoI issue

Activists, heading the agitation on the issue of Medium of Instruction (MOI) in schools, today said that Goa Governor can recommend President's rule in the state for the "blatant violation of the Indian Constitution by the state government."

Arvind Bhatikar, former IAS officer and leader of Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch (BBSM) said, "Goa governor S S Sidhu would be well within his right to dismiss Digambar Kamat-led government and recommend President's Rule in the state."

He alleged that the cabinet resolution on May 25, which gave MOI status to English, was moved bypassing the Cabinet Secretary and despite the objections raised by the Education Secretary.

"The proposal in the cabinet has to be moved by the Cabinet Secretary.

And if any officer points out technical objections, then the cabinet should not pass it," Bhatikar said.

State Education Secretary V P Rao had put notings on the cabinet note stating that the MOI amendment will have financial repercussions and will not withstand the legal scrutiny.

BBSM has been protesting against the government decision, which, according to them, would prove detrimental to the existence of Indian languages.

"Goa administration and government is not running as per the Indian constitution," he alleged.

BBSM president Shashikala Kakodkar said that the activists would gherao all the legislators and the Goa chief of Congress, Subhash Shirodkar, for adopting "double standards on the MOI issue."

She alleged that the ministers like Ramakrishna Dhavlikar, Manohar Asgoankar, Vishwajit Rane, Speaker of Legislative Assembly Pratapsingh Rane, legislator Dipak Dhavalikar and Congress chief Shirodkar were "adopting dual standards."

Kakodkar said that BBSM would ask all these politicians to clarify their stand on the MOI issue in their respective constituencies, to intensify the agitation.

President Rule required on account of corrupt,rampant illegal mining,criminal in police uniforms,garbage,sewerage problem,fake freedom fighters and not on account of MOI which is choose of parents and not like of Bhaticar,Uday Bhembre and Sashikala who are fanatics.

I hope you see no harm ,in someone living in London, expressing solidarity with a cause.

Expressing a view allows people to understand how others feel about a situation.

Speaking about Goa only, you must agree that every person, young & old is affected by corruption.Nothing is spared.The Politicians are at the head of the table along with the Police.

You must agree that rampant Mining is more for the benefit of individuals rather than the good of the populace or State.

Forget iron ore mining.I have also seen the destruction from Sand Mining.

As a chld I used to enjoy the sand dunes near the beaches.They no longet exist.Instead I see and forsee a flooding disaster, in years to come.

Hope you will accept my views in good faith .I have not expressed a my view, to "FORCIBLY" indoctrinate you.

The BBSM are all losers in their chosen professions & careers.Now they wish to make others ,be part of their loss.

yes CORRUPTION pervades every segment of Society.

mining has destroyed Goa and Has Goa not lost its beauty.

But people like you are seating in london and asking somebody else to raise the voice against all sorts of wrong doing? that is not correct.

you raise the voice against the such issues as we will see that BBSM supports the agitation.

What about all the Un-Constitutional practices that are taking place in Goa,which are more detrimental than English.

CORRUPTION pervades every segment of Society.

Why does the BBSM not bring out ,

or focus on the more serious issues.

Hasn`t mining destroyed Goa?Has Goa not lost its beauty.?
