NCP tells Jose-Nilkanth to resign

Nationalist Congress Party, which is part of the ruling alliance in Goa, tonight asked two of its ministers to resign from the Digambar Kamat cabinet.
NCP Goa unit president Surendra Sirsat told PTI that Revenue Minister Jose Philip D'Souza and Tourism Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar have been asked to resign from the cabinet.
Sirsat said that the party has initiated an inquiry against both the ministers, who were reportedly huddled in a meeting with some Congress ministers on Wednesday night.
The close-door meeting was held at GPCC general secretary Vijay Sardesai’s residence in Margao. They had unanimously opposed induction of Mickky in the cabinet.
PWD minister Churchill Alemao, his brother and urban development minister Joaquim Alemao, education minister Babush Monseratte, sports minister Babu Azgaonkar, Curtorim MLA Alex Reginald Lawerenco and Quepem MLA Babu Kavalekar had attended this meeting.
The resignation is sought to secure that the inquiry is impartial, he said.
The two ministers had panicked on Wednesday after NCP high command passed on the message to Chief Minister Digambar Kamat to drop of one of the ministers from the cabinet, to accommodate NCP legislator Mickky Pacheco.
The former state tourism minister is likely to be inducted in the cabinet by next week.
Mickky, the former tourism minister, was told to resign by the high command on 5 June.
Present tourism minister Nilkanth Halarnkar replaced him on 8 June.
Reacting to this meeting, Mickky had asked why the Congress had to muddle into NCP decisions, while alleging that same people were instrumental in defaming him in the Nadia Torrado death case.
Churchill, on the other hand, had warned of dire consequences if Mickky was inducted in the cabinet once again.

Huddling together like the erstwhile G-7, could not have been perceived less than a threat by some including the concerned party to its future plans, perhaps to go it alone. Anyway there are allegations doing the rounds about a land scam by a minister. Your guess is as good as mine when party discipline should be paramount.
Congress politicians have no right to interfere. It is sheer paranoiea about former minister's come-back about upsetting the applecart.
The party high command made the former minister to resign and he obeyed. Now the same call is here. It nis at the party's discretion. It's simpleas that.

He demanded to know how a tainted man can be inducted into the ministry when the Congress leadership had told senior Congressmen Dayanand Narvekar to step down after a case was filed against him.
“What would I explain to my people if good persons such as Jose Philip and Nilkanth are dropped from the ministry? The Congress leadership should not take any decision that would leave the two ministers out of the cabinet”, Alemao said
This words are from Churchill and he is worried what he will explain us. Churchill can you please explain us if you have any criminal record and what is your qualification to hold that portfolio
