Police release photo, identify rape accused

The state police have finally released the photograph and identified the rapist as Amand Bharadwaj from UP. He raped a nine-year old Russian girl on 26 January at Arambol. He and his accomplice are absconding.
Superintendent of police (North) Bosco George, after releasing the photograph today afternoon, has appealed to the people to immediately inform the nearest police station if they locate the suspect. He however preferred not to elaborate anything further.
"I don't want to comment anything right now. We will issue this photograph to all the police stations, railway stations, airport and border posts," he said talking to reporters at district headquarters.
Nine-year old Russian girl, who was holidaying with her mother at Arambol beach, 35 kms away from here, was raped inside the water by the accused while his accomplice diverted attention of the mother.
34-year old mother, who complained at the Pernem police station, had described the accused as tall, 30-year old square faced big round eyes and having white spot on upper lip.
State police in the meanwhile have begun extensive raids and investigations at various guest houses. They also sought help of artists to draw a sketch. George, earlier this morning, had said that they could not get the accurate sketch despite several attempts.
