Goa ATS probing into ‘letter threat’ to Modi and Parrikar

GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 19 January 2016 19:10 IST

Anti-terrorist squad of Goa is probing into the ‘letter threat’ received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

The open postcard is received purportedly from ISIS with a threat to kill both the national leaders.

“We have taken the matter very seriously and the ATS as well as all the police stations of North Goa are presently probing into it”, Inspector General of Police V Ranganathan told goanews.com.

The open postcard, received a week ago, was addressed to none in particular but Government of India, with an address of Goa Secretariat at Porvorim.

“The letter is full with broken English and signed as ISIS”, confirmed Ranganathan.

According to sources, the content in broken English speaks about ‘our brother killed for eating cow meat, now Hindutwa Modi and Parrikar should be ready for a surprise.’

The superiors have also told the whole police force to be more alert in the background of this letter.

The intelligence agencies are also probing into it, said the IGP.
