Karmali is speaking RSS language, shielding 'Eng' Hindus: Cong
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 28 December 2015 21:15 IST
Congress has condemned the statement of veteran freedom fighter and writer Nagesh Karmali, stating that he is speaking languages of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
“Karmali is more suitable to take over as the RSS chief, his links with RSS are well known from the time of vandalism in Mala”, said Girish Chodankar, Goa-based secretary of the All India Congress Committee.
Reacting to Karmali’s statement that Goa Church is worse than the Portuguese in relation to its policy on Medium of Instruction, Chodankar said the statement is undemocratic, instigative, communal and displays intolerance.
“Such provocative statements will only disturb the age-old social fabric of Goa and needs to be condemned by all secular and peace loving forces”, said the AICC secretary.
Chodankar also countered the statement that the MoI policy dominates the opinion of only 25 per cent, stating that actually 70 per cent students have opted for English as the medium of instruction at primary level in Goa.
“Why blame only the Church for English medium when 65 per cent among these 70 per cent belong to the majority Hindu community”, he asked.
The AICC secretary also asked why Karmali does not blame the majority community, who also run English medium primary schools.
He also alleged that the leaders of the Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch are using wrong statistics to polarise the Hindus and disturb the peace of Goa.
In reality, claimed Chodankar, 93,000 students are enrolled in aided primary schools, out of which 65,000 have opted for English, majority of whom belong to the Hindu community.
He also recalled how RSS and Karmali has released a VCD during the BJP rule in 2004, depicting Christians as Portuguese while one Vishwa Hindu Parishad had called the Christians and Muslims as Rahu and Ketu.
Chodankar also said he had no objection to the BBSM convincing the people about their position on the MoI issue, but not by attacking any particular religion for no reason.
