Goa Archbishop seeks God’s help to end unrest

Goa Archbishop has asked the Almighty God to help us seek peaceful solutions for the ongoing unrest in the world, India and Goa while greeting people on the occasion of Christmas.

Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao has also prayed that the Prophet of Peace may encourage us all to promote dialogue and reconciliation and to sustain our efforts to build peace.

Following the message of Archbishop:

On this happy occasion of Christmas, we cannot but echo this hymn of joy, the joy of the birth of Jesus, the Son of God made man. Sharing in the joy of the Christian community, on their behalf and in my name, I extend greetings of peace and truth, mercy and kindness to all people of good will in this State.

If the Holy Babe lies helpless in the crib, we feel encouraged to approach him with the situations of unrest in the world, in our country and in our state, but especially in our families, asking Him to help us seek peaceful solutions, while respecting the legitimate aspirations of individuals, families and peoples.

We pray that the Babe of Bethlehem, the Prophet of Peace, may encourage us all to promote dialogue and reconciliation and to sustain our efforts to build peace.

In this Year of the Jubilee of the Mercy of God, proclaimed by our beloved Pope Francis, we pray especially that the Prince of Peace may encourage us to be ever more efficient instruments of forgiveness and understanding, in the present and in the future.

GUV PRAYS TO ELIMINATE INTOLERANCE

Following are the Christmas greetings by Goa Governor Mridula Sinha:

On this occasion, we celebrate with joy, the birth of Lord Jesus Christ, who bestowed us with the eternal message of love, peace, tolerance, compassion and brotherhood. The message of the Lord has undoubtedly the greatest relevance in today's world, which is afflicted with many evils being practiced by elements inimical to peace and order.

Today, we find that the unity on the basis of the spirit that is common to all is being often thwarted by some people. Especially in a country like ours, wherein thrive all the religions of the world, we need to protect and conserve the unity of people on the basis of common spiritual and moral values instead of being too cloistered.

I think, an appreciation, understanding and practice of the valuable message given by Lord Jesus Christ of tolerance and understanding will help us eliminate the troubles and miseries created by intolerance and mistrust, and thus bring peace, happiness and solace to mankind.

CM APPEALS FOR MORALITY

Christmas is being celebrated across the world with great joy and fervour. This occasion assumes significance to follow the principles and moral values preached by Lord Jesus Christ and to spread his glorious message of peace and love. 

Let us celebrate Christmas with gaiety and happiness to consolidate the bonds of unity, fraternity among people of different faith and to usher in peace, prosperity and progress in the New Year.
