I’ve Vishnu in mind for Dy Sp, he is an asset: Parsekar

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar clarified today that he has Vishnu Wagh in his mind as a new deputy speaker while admitting that he has not spoken to him so far.

“He is an asset to the party and I think he should accept the offer in the interest of the party”, said Parsekar, while talking to goanews.com from the national capital.

He was in New Delhi to receive the Best Competitive State award of Mint publication for Goa.

According to Parsekar, there is no hurry to decide about the deputy speaker.

Rajendra Arlekar will resign from speaker's post tomorow morning, after whcih he would be sworn in at 5 pm.

However, said Parsekar, there will not be any change in the decision taken to elevate Anant Shet as the speaker.

Wagh had earlier said that his name has neither been announced nor any offer is being made to him.

Meanwhile, sources in the BJP disclosed to goanews.com that two senior party functionaries – Datta Kholkar and Sadanand Shet Tanavde – met Wagh today afternoon to discuss the proposal of the chief minister.

Following this meeting, Wagh today evening released the press statement, stating that no offer is made to him till now and he would decide only when the offer is made formally.

Parsekar however learnt to have been of a firm opinion that Wagh should accept the offer, which he plans to make to him.

Goa, in the meanwhile, was chosen for the Mint award among the small states based on its performance in finance, incentives and strategy besides overall performance.
