GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 21 September 2015 14:03 IST

Maharashtra and Karnataka police, with the help of National Investigation Agency, are jointly hunting for Rudra Patil, absconding suspect in the Margao bomb blast case, as a prime suspect in the Govind Pansare murder case.

Rudra is absconding since 2009, a bomb blast case that had killed two Sadhak of Sanatan Saunstha in accidental explosion while transporting bombs in their scooter on the eve of Diwali.

The prime suspect in the Pansare murder case is a cousin of Malgonda Patil, who was killed in the bomb explosion while parking their scooter near Narakasur competition, which thousands of people were attending on the night of 18 October 2009.

According to Maharashtra State Investigation Team, Sameer Gaikwad, whom they have arrested, was in constant touch with Rudra.

Since Rudra is from Karnataka, police also suspect his involvement in killing Kannada writer M M Kalburgi.

Com Govind Pansare was killed by two gunmen on 16 February this year in Kolhapur (Maharashtra) while Prof Kalburgi was shot dead by two gunmen on 30 August at his Dharwad (Karnataka) residence.
