Governor Mridula Sinha has sent back the mercy petition to pardon jailed former minister Mickky Pacheco.
Mickky is serving six-month jail sentence at Sada sub-jail since 1 June in a case of slapping an electricity junior engineer in 2010.
The cabinet led by chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar had forwarded Mickky's mercy petition with a recommendation to the Governor seeking his pardon and freedom from jail.
However, quite a few organisations and individuals, including Aam Aadmi Party, had petitioned the governor not to grant him pardon.
Parsekar has now told section of the media that that cabinet would discuss the issue and get back to the governor.
