BJP wants action against officials delyaing OBC quota in civil polls
SOYARU VELIP, PANAJI | 01 September 2015 22:04 IST

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party wants its government to take action against the officials, who are delaying the process of OBC and SC/ST reservations in forthcoming municipal elections.
Goa’s municipal elections are scheduled on 25 October this year.
BJP spokesperson and MLA Dr Pramod Sawant has demanded that reservations of wards in civic polls be notified as soon as possible.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here, Sawant alleged some government officials are deliberately delaying the process of notification.
The ruling party is strongly proposing 27 per cent wards to be reserved for OBC as well as some wards for SC and ST communities based on the population in the municipal area.
He also expressed hope that similar reservations would be provided to the OBC in the Assembly election, scheduled in 2017.
