Where do you want Casinos to be shifted? You may suggest

GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 12 August 2015 20:21 IST

Yes, you can also suggest where else the floating casinos can be relocated, while shifting it from River Mandovi.

At last, almost three and a half years after the public assurance, things have started moving in the direction of shifting the floating casino vessels from River Mandovi in Panaji.

Goa government has suggested four alternate sites:

1. Mouth of River Mandovi at Aguada Bay

2. East of Zuari bridge

3. West of Zuari bridge

4. River Chapora

While identifying these four alternate sites, government has also invited suggestions from public as well as stakeholders (the casino operators).

You need to send your suggestions to: The Additional Secretary, Home, Home Department, Secretariat, Porvorim.

The time given for suggestions is 15 days, from today, which will expire on 27 August.

An official press communiqué released in this regard also stated that the proposed sited have been identified as per the cabinet decision taken at a meeting held on 14 August 2013, almost two years ago.

The Bharatiya Janata Party had made removal of casinos from River Mandovi its election agenda.

However, the election promise still remains unfulfilled.

Goans do not need revenue from `VICES`.

No shifting........ just straight kicked out from our waters.

Taking into consideration & keeping in mind all interests (including local youth gambling vis-a-vis the State earning revenue) I may suggest that the Casinos be moved to the west of Zuari Bridge, at the regulation 12 nautical miles distance out in the Arabian Sea.. with the arrangement of chargeable ferry service for the interested public and the establishment of a Regulatory Authority to ensure all activities are carried out under the Law/ within Legal parameters.

The Govt. has invited feedback: refer the below attached news article. Write to ir EMAIL your suggestions to the address / email shown below.

If removal was on the agenda...kindly get them off the Goan waters!!!

Shifting them is no solution.. It will only shift the problem!!

The rivers are lifelines to Goans.... They need to be protected !!!!

I strongly suggest the Casinos be moved to the west of the Zuari bridge... at a reasonable distance out in the Arabian Sea...

Big deal!! Fool Goans yet again..Removal of the casino was on the election agenda...not shifting it..doesnt serve the purpose!!!

My suggestion is plain and simple: first invite all our corrupt and communal Politicias like Ministers and MLAs on these casinos, then shift them out of the mouth of Mandovi, for about 10 Kms into the deep see and sink them there taking care that the spot will not be a hazard for navigation of other vessels.
