Mickky claims chest pain, sent back to jail after check-up

Former Goa minister Fransisco Miccky Pacheco, who surrendered before a local court yesterday and was sent to jail, today complained of uneasiness and chest pain, following which he was taken to a hospital.
However, he was sent back to jail after medical check-up at the hospital, officials said.
Pacheco, leader of Goa Vikas Party and MLA from Nuvem, had gone "missing" after his conviction was upheld by the Supreme Court two months ago for slapping a junior engineer in 2006. He has been sentenced to six months prison term.
After his surrender before a local court last evening, Pacheco was taken to Sada Sub Jail last night, where he spent a night in cell number 14.
The authorities of Sada prison near Vasco said that Pacheco complained of uneasiness and chest pain this morning, after which he was referred to Cottage Hospital at Chicalim village.
"From?there, he was taken to Goa Medical College and Hospital for further investigations. After conducting the medical examination, Pacheco was again sent to jail," the authorities said.
The former minister had to resign from the post after the Supreme Court refused to stay his conviction awarded to him by the Sessions Court.
The Supreme Court in April had dismissed his appeal against the July 2014 Bombay High Court verdict.
The Goa bench of the high court had set aside the verdict of a revisional court, which had "brought down" the conviction of the MLA under Section 323 (causing hurt) from the harsher section 353 (assaulting public servant to deter from duty) under the IPC and, instead of sentencing him, ordered his release on 'admonition' under the Probation of Offenders Act.
The high court, which had given two weeks time to the MLA to surrender, had upheld the decision of a lower appellate court to award him a jail term of six months besides a fine of Rs 1,500 in the case. The magistrate (the trial judge) had awarded him one year jail term and fine of Rs 5,000.
An FIR had been lodged in July 2006 by Kapil Natekar, a junior engineer of the government's Electrical Department, against Pacheco, alleging that he was abused and slapped by the politician in his chamber.
